Starting a new feature for the next several months called Book of the Month. I will present one of my books and tell you a little of the backstory behind it.
This month's book is Schola Caritatis: Learning the Rhythms of God's Amazing Love
This book came about as a result of a spiritual formation class I have taught through the years, and is really the story of how my spiritual formation came about (and is still coming about). They say that in each author's life there is one book he is supposed to write, and although The Blue Book is definitely my best seller, I think Schola Caritatis is that book for me. I know the name is weird, but to me it really fits. It means School of Love, which is exactly what this life is; learning how to be loved by God and then learning how to love him and love others in response.
*And, by the way, it is a great book to go through with groups: your staff, your small group, your Sunday School class, your church, your leadership team, etc. It provides some good space for practice, reflection, and conversation.
