goodness

goodness
hidden in a husk
disguised and unrecognizable
in the chaos of life
lurking far beneath
the surface of things
only come upon by trust
often seen only
by a backwards glance

the narrative of circumstance
tells us there is no such thing
yet deeper down
beneath the tears and the pain
an invitation is whispered
to believe a different story
in spite of our doubt
that goodness really exists

a voice of love and care
a deep and transforming magic
a counter-spell to all of
the lies and half truths
an invitation to peace
and to wholeness
offering hope that
goodness is real
and possible
and attainable
in this life
in spite of the pain
